NGO “Museum for Change” announces the launch of the project “Mobile Digitisation Lab”
Cultural Emergency Response
As part of a grant partnership with Cultural Emergency Response (Netherlands), the NGO Museum for Change ensures and coordinates the temporary operation of a Mobile Digital Lab at no fewer than 10 museums and cultural institutions in Odesa and Odesa region. The aim is to digitise museum objects that are part of the collections of selected institutions.
The primary focus of the Digital Lab during its first 12 months of activity is the documentation of more than 10,000 objects from the most priority cultural heritage collections currently under threat of destruction.
The main priorities and values of the project include:
• Cultural continuity;
• Social cohesion;
• Resilience;
• Community well-being;
• Free / open / equal access to cultural heritage.
Museum and institutional staff involved in the Lab’s activities will have the opportunity to acquire essential digitisation skills through hands-on practice. This approach reduces deployment costs, builds institutional knowledge, and equips heritage professionals with key principles of digital protection.
Participating institutions will have full and permanent access to the materials and data created within the Mobile Digital Lab, with the possibility of further using the digitised materials in the Register of the Museum Fund of Ukraine.
The project is expected to run until January 2026.
